Matt Higgins Elected to EMBO Membership for 2025
We’re thrilled to share that Kavli Oxford Professor Matt Higgins has been elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) for 2025.
Matt Higgins, who holds the EP Abraham Chair of Structural Biology at the University of Oxford, works across the Department of Biochemistry, the Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery, and the Dunn School of Pathology. His election recognises his contributions to the life sciences and places him within a community of more than 2,100 scientists across Europe and beyond.
EMBO membership is awarded through a nomination and election process by existing members. The organisation brings together scientists from a broad range of disciplines and encourages collaboration across borders.
Commenting on the announcement, Matt said:
“It’s an honour to accept membership of EMBO on behalf of my wonderful research team. Scientific progress relies on international collaboration, and EMBO plays an important role in building those connections. I look forward to engaging with colleagues across Europe in the years ahead.”
All new members will be formally welcomed at the EMBO Members’ Meeting in Heidelberg, Germany, this October.
You can read the full announcement on the EMBO website.
Since April 2021, Oxford University's KAVLI Institute for Nanoscience Discovery is proudly serving as a hub for research groups from seven different departments spanning both the medical and physical sciences, including Professor Matt Higgins' group from the Department of Biochemistry.
